About Islamic Expert

Honest, plainly stated: what we do, how we work, and what we are not.

What Islamic Expert is

Islamic Expert is an independent educational publication covering three areas: Islamic inheritance (Faraid) law, halal certification for businesses, and the structure of Islamic marriage contracts (nikah). We write long-form explainers that aim to go deeper than typical search results on these topics, and we built a calculator for common Faraid scenarios to make that explainer practically useful.

What Islamic Expert is not

Not a source of fatwas

We do not issue religious rulings (fatwas). We do not claim to have a named scholar reviewing our content unless that is genuinely true and credited on the specific page. If a page does not name a real reviewer, no such review has taken place, and we will not invent one. Where our content touches on matters of religious ruling, we describe the widely taught or commonly cited position and explicitly note where scholars and schools of thought differ, rather than presenting a single answer as settled when it is not.

How we approach accuracy

We aim to clearly separate three kinds of statements in our content: well established facts (such as the Quranic basis for Faraid in Surah An-Nisa), commonly cited industry figures that we label as illustrative rather than guaranteed (such as typical halal certification cost ranges), and areas of genuine scholarly or legal disagreement, which we flag explicitly rather than resolve with a single invented answer. We do not fabricate statistics, invented certifying-body pricing presented as fact, or fictional reviewer credentials.

Our inheritance calculator's scope

The Faraid calculator on this site covers common, direct-family survivor combinations under the fixed shares most widely taught across the Sunni schools of thought. It explicitly flags scenarios it cannot fully resolve, such as certain leftover-residue cases, rather than guessing. It does not cover every scenario, every school of thought, or extended family members such as grandchildren, grandparents, or more distant relatives. See the inheritance page for the calculator's full disclaimers.
